About Donald Rothberg

Donald Rothberg, PhD, is a leading teacher and writer on meditation, the intersection of psychology and spirituality, and socially engaged spiritual practice. He has taught and practiced Buddhist meditation for over 35 years, and his teaching and trainings have helped to pioneer new ways of connecting inner and outer transformation.

Mr. Rothberg is a member of the Teacher’s Council at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and has been an organizer, teacher, and board member for the Buddhist Peace Fellowship. He received training in Tibetan Dzogchen practice and the Hakomi approach to body-based psychotherapy. He was formerly on the faculties of the University of Kentucky, Kenyon College, and Saybrook University.

He is the author of The Engaged Spiritual Life: A Buddhist Approach to Transforming Ourselves and the World, which was named one of the best spiritual books of 2006 by Spirituality and Practice.
