Bhikkuni Sobhana will be visiting our sangha on March 20, 2019 after leading a retreat at Southern Dharma Retreat Center in Hot Springs, NC. She will lead a group meditation, give a dharma talk, and answer questions afterwards.
Her topic will be “Let us make the truth our refuge, our place of safety.”
Ayya Sobhana is the Prioress of Aranya Bodhi, a new community for monastic women located on the Sonoma Coast of California. Together with Ayya Tathaaloka Theri, she has been deeply involved in the recent restoration of Bhikkhuni [female Buddhist monastic] full ordination in the Theravada tradition.
Ayya Sobhana has meditated and trained with Bhante Henepola Gunaratana since 1989. She resided at the Bhavana Society in West Virginia from 2003 to 2010. She was ordained in 2003 and obtained full Bhikkhuni ordination in 2006.
