DaeJa Napier will be gracing us with her wisdom in Buddhism and the dharma on Friday, September 29th. She will lead a meditation, give a talk, and answer questions afterwards. She is visiting AIM prior to leading a retreat at Southern Dharma Retreat Center from September 30th to October 7th, 2017.
She is the founding and guiding teacher of the Brahma-Vihara Foundation, where she teaches Insight Meditation with an emphasis on the cultivation of the four Brahma Viharas: loving kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity.
DaeJa has practiced and studied in the Zen and Vipassana traditions since 1974. Her root teacher was the late Zen Master Seung Sahn. Her practice has continued to be enriched under the guidance of both Asian and Western teachers, including Sayadaw U Pandita, Pa Auk Sayadaw and Joseph Goldstein.
DaeJa dedicates her life to exploring the Buddhist pathways to awakening and their applications in daily life. Her conveyance of the Buddhist teachings and related practices reflect the 40 years she spent raising five children while maintaining a formal practice.
