Kate Freeman began meditating in the late 80’s to manage severe migraines and eventually turned to Theravada Buddhism (Vipassana/Insight Meditation) as her root practice because it helped her gain freeing insights with difficult thoughts and feelings.
Since retiring from the federal government in 2014, Kate began immersing herself into her heart’s desire: daily meditation, chanting, walking in nature, and Buddhist studies. She is a Sound Massage and Reiki practitioner for her business, Spa de la Paz, as well as a volunteer for Hospice in Asheville.
Kate supports her passion for peace by frequently attending residential silent retreats, participating in the Asheville Insight Meditation (AIM) Facilitator Training program, and teaching at AIM. Kate’s kind and vulnerable nature creates the space for others to experience their vulnerability and together an intimacy develops that supports kindness and compassion for all beings.
